Closes 14 Mar 2021

Am I eligible for a key worker place?

East Lothian Council are only able to provide a key worker place for families where:

  • Both parents/carers are a key worker as defined by Scottish Government Guidance and this can be confirmed by their employer/s if required.
  • Neither parent/carer is able to work from home and this can be confirmed by their employer/s if required.
  • There is no other non-vulnerable adult who can undertake childcare in the home
  • There are no other adults e.g. family members, babysitter, nannies or friends (who are not in an 'at risk' category for Coronavirus) who can provide informal childcare

Scottish Government Guidance on school re-opening arrangements for January 2021 and support for children of key workers can be found at: Coronavirus (COVID-19): school re-opening arrangements for January 2021 - gov.scot (www.gov.scot)

This includes definitions of key workers in each category.
