Thank you for sharing your views and experiences around accessing places and activities for children with additional support needs.

Your responses clearly show your feelings that many places and activities are not accessible for your child and how difficult this is especially during long holiday periods.

You also showed us how much of a difference it makes when you do get the right support in place and how that can benefit the whole family.

This information is being brought together and will be published by Shared Care Scotland and East Lothian HSCP in the new year.

It will be used to inform actions in our local carers strategy, due to be published in June 2026.

We are already looking to establish a play park advisory group that can be consulted on changes to our local parks, making sure good intentions really work for families.

Information is also being shared with children's services as part of their disability service review.

Overview

We want to understand what opportunities are available in East Lothian for young people with additional support needs and their carers to access over holiday periods.

We also what to understand how we can make activities and spaces more accessible.

Why your views matter

We are talking to young people, carers and providers of activities to try and build a picture of what we have and how we can make things better.

Information provided within this survey will be used to inform actions taken over the next few years.  Everything you share will be anonymised.
