Services for older people
Overview
East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership (ELHSCP) brings together employees within East Lothian Council and NHS Lothian to integrate health and social care services for the local population.
Our collective mission is to deliver the best care, best health and best value for our communities.
ELHSCP is governed by the Integration Joint Board (IJB). The IJB receives funds from East Lothian Council (ELC) and NHS Lothian to set out the strategy for delivering health and social care services to the people of East Lothian.
The services include :
- Adult social work and social care services
- Adult primary and community health care services
- Some elements of adult hospital care.
Provision of services for older people
A major part of our work is planning services for older people. We already know that East Lothian has an ageing population. Over the next 10 years the over 65 year age group is expected to rise by 32% (compared to 7% in 24-64 age group)
Our aim is to work with communities to collective identify possible options to support the development of high quality sustainable services for older people in East Lothian, now and into the future.
We have begun an extensive programme of engagement to work with individuals and communities to co-design health and social care services for older people.
Why your views matter
- We need to discuss, consider and propose options to decide how East Lothian can and will deliver older peoples’ services in the future.
- The services we are planning now will be in place to support you in older age.
- We need to hear from people who are or will be using older people's services so that we can work together to develop accessible and sustainable services which will meet people's needs across East Lothian.
- We also need to hear from unpaid carers, professionals, the third sector and providers of care who have experience of services already.
