Review of East Lothian Licensing Board Statement of Licensing Policy 2023

Closed 13 Aug 2023

Opened 20 Jun 2023

Overview

East Lothian Licencing Board is required under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 to prepare a Statement of Licensing Policy every five years and must ensure the policy promoted the licensing objectives.

The East Lothian Licensing Board is undertaking a consultation on the draft policy in order to prepare and publish its final Policy Statement. The policy sets out in detail how the Board considers applications for the licensing of the sale of alcohol and manages premises in the Board’s area. The policy also details the expectations the Board has of licence holders in operating their premises.

The policy is a wide-ranging document, and the Board is keen to encourage as broad a range of responses as possible. Once finalised the Policy statement will take effect until Nov 2028.
