Reports on the Outcome of the Consultation on the two proposals have been produced and are available below. These will form the basis of reports to East Lothian Council on the 24th April 2018.

Overview

Proposal 1 – Proposed closure and re-designation of North Berwick Nursery School to Law Primary School Nursery Class

• North Berwick Nursery School will be closed and re-designated to Law Primary School Nursery Class and this will take effect from August 2018.

Proposal 2 – To alter the school catchment areas of Dirleton Primary School and Law Primary School

• The catchment area of Law Primary School will be extended to include the new residential development at Ferrygate Meadow (Local Development Plan Proposal NK5) and the houses in the area of Westerdunes Park, North Berwick currently in the catchment of Dirleton Primary School. This will become operational with immediate effect.

Paper copies of the consultation document will be available at North Berwick Nursery School, all North Berwick Cluster Primary Schools, all North Berwick Cluster Partnership Nurseries, Dirleton Playgroup, Gullane Playgroup, North Berwick Community Centre, North Berwick Health Centre, North Berwick Library and John Muir House, Haddington.

 

 

What happens next

RESULTS UPDATED:

 

On 24 April 2018, East Lothian Council approved the proposal to close and re-designate North Berwick Nursery School to Law Primary School Nursery Class.

As per the Schools (Consultation) (Scotland) Act 2010 Scottish Ministers have been notified of this decision and now have a period of eight weeks to decide whether to issue a call in notice.

Members of the public have a period of three weeks during which they can make representations to Scottish Ministers regarding whether they wish a call in to be issued or not.

All representations must be made before this three week period ends on Monday 14th May 2018.
