Volunteers Note of Interest for TechTalk
Overview
TechTalk – is a project for families keen to learn more about tech.
A small number of families with a child/children age 9 - 12 will join us for an 8 week programme, in the Musselburgh area.
About TechTalk Family Sessions
- Who: 5–6 families meeting weekly
- Where: Musselburgh or Wallyford Library
- When: February–April 2026 (8 sessions, around 2 hours each)
- Led by: A youth worker and library staff, supported by young volunteers
- The sessions: Creative, fun activities for children and their grown-ups. Each week we’ll explore different aspects of digital life—phones, games, social media, risks, and boundaries.
- Our goal: Together, we’ll create a practical guide (video, animation, comic, poster…) to share what we’ve learned and help other families.
Young Volunteers Role:
Do you use gaming, phones, social media, AI, or tech at school? We’d love your help!
Support families by sharing your experience of growing up with technology. No need to be an expert—just bring your know-how.
When?
Weekly after-school sessions from late February to April (around 8 sessions). Join as many as you can!
What’s in it for you?
- Guidance from a youth worker and librarian
- Count it towards a Youth Achievement Award or DofE
