East Lothian Local Development Plan 2018 Proposed Supplementary Planning Guidance - Design Standards for New Housing Areas SPG (2019)

Overview

The East Lothian Local Development Plan 2018 (ELLDP) has been adopted by the Council and replaced the East Lothian Local Plan 2008 with regards all planning matters in the area.  The Local Development Plan 2018 sets out the overall spatial strategy for East Lothian and contains detailed policies used to determine planning applications.

Supplementary Planning Guidance expands upon existing policies and proposals and is used to support the content of the Local Development Plan 2018.  Supplementary Planning Guidance is subject to extensive consultation and formal approval. When approved, it is a material planning consideration for determining planning applications.

This consultation is on the proposed East Lothian Design Standards for New Housing Areas Supplementary Planning Guidance, running from Friday 8th November until Friday 20th December 2019. This SPG seeks to raise the standard of new development design in East Lothian by guiding designers to first of all look at the unique characteristics and attributes of East Lothian, use these actively and positively through the design process for both small and large scale developments, and how to technically achieve and deliver good design and great new places.
