East Linton Road Safety Improvements

Overview

We are keen to gather views on various options proposed to address community concerns regarding road safety in the village of East Linton, including the area around East Linton Primary School.

Proposals include:

  • Formalisation of additional car parking for between 14 and 18 vehicles adjacent to the Bowling Club (surface improved and spaces marked out). This could be used during the school term for staff parking or parent 'park and stride' users. Additional parking provision could also be made available on Station Road (subject to a road safety audit).

  • Introduction of 20 mph limit - 20 mph experimental Order trials have been introduced in East Lothian - consideration could be given to establishing East Linton as a 'small settlement full treatment site'.

  • Monitoring of vehicle speeds on the B1377 - automated traffic counters will be installed over a 7 day period periodically to to record vehicle speeds. Consideration could be given to introducing a programme of monitoring if this is supported by the community.

  • Review of existing parking restrictions on Brown's Place to consider whether restrictions should be altered in the future.
