Closes 10 Oct 2025

Opened 1 Sep 2025

Overview

We are keen to hear your views about biodiversity in East Lothian.

East Lothian's Local Biodiversity Action Plan is undergoing an update which has been written by East Lothian Council and delivered and advised by East Lothian's Biodiversity Partnership.

The plan explores ambitions of restoration, conservation and protection for East Lothian’s priority habitats and priority species. Ensuring that habitats are connected and in good condition to build and enhance East Lothian’s Nature Network and to support species recovery and resilience to environmental changes.

The plan has considered international, national and local policy context including the Scottish Biodiversity Strategy. East Lothian Council has a statutory duty to further the conservation of biodiversity through delivering its responsibilities.

Why your views matter

Biodiversity is not only important for our natural environment but for people too. It directly supports human health, benefits wellbeing and connection to ecosystems.

This survey is aimed at people who have opinions on East Lothian’s biodiversity and natural environment and how we all should respond to the Nature Emergency. We will use your feedback to inform changes to the draft Local Biodiversity Action Plan.
