River Tyne crossing at Riverside Drive

Closed 14 Oct 2022

Opened 3 Oct 2022

Overview

East Lothian Council are seeking views on the draft proposal to replace the existing Riverside footbridge, which crosses the River Tyne at Riverside Drive, with a new 4 metre wide bridge. The new construction will allow for two-way crossing, improving access for wheelchair, buggy and cycle users.

Why your views matter

The next stage in this process is to progress the technical design of the new widened crossing. East Lothian Council will apply to Sustrans' Places for Everyone fund to cover the costs of this design work. Your views will inform the application, as well as the design itself and any future construction. We are keen to hear from all audiences, but in particular key users such as local residents and families of children who use this as a route to school.

What happens next

Thank you. Responses to this consultation will be analysed and considered as part of the proposed design phase of this project. A summary of responses will be shared with the local Area Partnership and Community Council and will be available on request.
