Tynebank Road, Haddington path improvements
Overview
East Lothian Council are seeking views on the draft proposal for a shared pedestrian and cycle path at Tynebank Road, Haddington. A map of the proposed route can be found here and at the bottom of this page, which shows it connecting Mill Wynd to Meadowpark via an off-road path to be built on the eastern side of Tynebank Road. This will not result in any changes to the existing road.
We view this proposal as something which will enhance safety, improve access around the area for those who walk, wheel or cycle and, crucially, offer a safer route to school for children attending the campuses based nearby.
Discussions have taken place with Haddington Athletic Football Club who are supportive in principle of the southern section, which borders their ground.
Why your views matter
The next stage in this process is to progress the technical design of the route itself, including the details of a new crossing point at the south where it meets Mill Wynd. East Lothian Council will apply to Sustrans' Places for Everyone fund to cover the costs of the design work. Your views will inform the application, as well as the design itself and any future construction. We are keen to hear from all audiences, but in particular key users such as local residents and families of children who attend the schools near this route.

Thank you. Responses to this consultation will be analysed and considered as part of the proposed design phase of this project. A summary of responses will be shared with the local Area Partnership and Community Council and will be available on request.
