Overview

East Lothian Council has appointed consultants to carry out a masterplanning exercise for the former Cockenzie Power Station site. Peter Brett Associates (PBA) will lead a multi-disciplinary team assisting the council in work with local communities and external stakeholders to develop a strategic masterplan for the site and surrounding land.

The masterplan process will seek to create a vision for the future redevelopment of the area, with a wide range of opportunities set to be explored. The aim will be to identify options that will deliver the greatest economic and social impact and create the environment and opportunities that support a flourishing economy and help to build a prosperous, safe and sustainable location.

The masterplan will provide a framework for the future redevelopment of the Cockenzie Power Station site in line with the latest East Lothian Local Development Plan, which is currently going through the approval process before being ratified by Scottish ministers.
