Overview

What would you like to see developed at the Greenspace Play Area, Lindores Drive, Tranent (the park / greenspace area behind the George Johnstone Centre) ?

East Lothian Council has allocated Scottish Government Play Parks Renewal funding to develop play provision in the park / greenspace at Lindores Drive, Tranent. Subject to planning approval, our aim is to provide a challenging, exciting and inclusive play space for toddlers to teens (age range 0 – 15) to play and hang out.

We would like to ensure that the new Tranent Greenspace Play Area meets local needs and to involve people, particularly children and young people, in its development. This consultation gives opportunities for a range of play equipment options to be considered and prioritised, which we will aim to deliver within the budget available. This project is subject to Scottish Government Play Parks Renewal funding.

Our new ELC Play Area Website is full of useful information that may be of help ahead of completing this consultation. As well as providing an overview of what could be developed in Play Areas, the site also contains useful information for community groups seeking to shape local parks, play areas and greenspaces.

Please note that the new play area will also feature seating / benches, bins as well as inclusive and accessible rubber safety surfacing on the ground. We will also take account of the feedback we have already received, including through our recent ‘East Lothian Play Sufficiency Assessment’ consultation.

Why your views matter

The feedback we receive via this consultation will help us to ensure that the new play area will represent local views and meet local needs as best as possible. We may not be able to provide everything you would like to see, but we’ll do our best to include as wide a range of new play experiences as possible, for a range of ages and abilities.

Thank you for taking part in this consultation, we value your contribution and look forward to delivering an improved and community steered Play Area.
