Closed 24 May 2021

Opened 13 May 2021

Overview

Notice is hereby given under Section 11(2)(b) of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 (the “Act”) that East Lothian Council proposes to make The East Lothian Council (Scottish Open, The Renaissance Club) (Exemption) Order 2021 (the “Order”) under Section 11(1) of the Act.

Why your views matter

The effect of the Order will be to exempt the area of land comprising the golf course at Renaissance, from the access rights which would otherwise be exercisable in respect of that land by virtue of Part 1 of the Act.

The purpose for which the Order is being proposed is to enable the 2021 Scottish Open Golf Championship to be held, with the land being proposed for exemption from access rights (1) in the interests of the health and safety of the public and construction workers, as well as the security of materials and supplies, during the installation and dismantling of temporary structures and services on the Course, before and after the Championship; (2) in the interests of the safety and security of players and the safety of the public during the Championship itself; and (3) to permit an entrance fee to be levied on spectators during the Championship.

It is proposed that the Order will take effect from 00.00 hours on Sunday 4th July 2021 and will expire at 23.59 hours on Sunday 11th July 2021.

Objections or representations in respect of the proposed Order may be made to the Local Authority at the address given below, for its consideration, no later than 10 days after the date of publication of this notice.  Objections or representations should be made in writing, and should state the name and address of the correspondent and, in the case of objections, the grounds on which they are made.
