St Margaret's House - proposed new lease agreement
Overview
St Margaret's House is a Common Good asset managed by East Lothian Council. It has been leased by the club since 1994 as their clubhouse. Rental income is reinvested into the town’s Common Good fund.
Winterfield Golf Club recently took over the management and maintenance of the golf course which, although it surrounds the property, is not a Common Good asset.
Terms have been agreed with the club for a 40-year lease of the course; the proposals for St Margaret’s House would align with this duration.
As St Margaret’s House is a Common Good asset, by law this constitutes a ‘new disposal’ and public consultation is required under section 104 of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 for the building.
If approved, the new lease would run until 2065. St Margaret's House would continue to operate as Winterfield Golf Club's clubhouse and rental income would continue to be paid to the Dunbar Common Good Fund.
Respondents to this consultation, which runs for 8 weeks, are being asked whether they are in favour or opposed to the proposed 40-year lease of St Margaret's House and their views if appropriate.
Why your views matter
