Overview

Are you a family member, friend or neighbour providing care or support to someone living with dementia?  If you are, we need you to help us influence decisions about carer support in East Lothian.

A major survey was launched in East Lothian on the 1st March  to find out what carers of people with dementia really think about the services and support they receive and what makes a difference.

Sue Northop from Dementia Friendly East Lothian (DFEL) said:

“People who support and care for people with dementia in our communities do a fantastic job, all unpaid. They deserve our appreciation and support.

This survey is a chance for carers to get their views across and influence decisions about the services they receive.

We want to hear from people who are carers now or have been in the past, about their experiences and what would have made a difference to them.”

The survey is being run jointly by Dementia Friendly East Lothian, Carers of East Lothian and At Home in East Lothian as well as number of local Day Centres for older people.  It has been funded by East Lothian Council in the hope to inform the development of services and support for people with Dementia and their unpaid carers.
