Development Proposal for Fa'side Lodge, Tranent

Closed 9 Aug 2020

Opened 27 Jul 2020

Overview

East Lothian Council are currently at the design stage of a development proposal for the site of the previous nursing home ‘Fa’side Lodge’ at the top of Church Street, Tranent.

The proposal is to develop 28 council properties with a mix of 2 and 3 bedroom bungalows and 1 and 2 bedroom cottage flats. It is anticipated that these properties will deliver both mainstream and specialised housing.

The design is in keeping with the general character of the area providing a strong urban edge to Church Street as well as reflecting its Conservation Area status. Vehicular access to the site will be from Elder Court with parking provided within the site for the residents. The properties will be designed to high environmental standards, which will also help to deliver the key objectives and outcomes of the Council’s Climate Change Strategy.

The Council’s Development Team would normally hold a local public consultation event to give the community an opportunity to discuss further, provide comments and raise any concerns. Due to the current situation, we are unable to hold any face to face events, however we would still like to provide you with the opportunity to review our proposals and provide any feedback, concerns prior to the proposal being submitted to our Planning Department.

If the site does receive consent, the next stage will be to grout the site, followed by the construction works with an anticipated completion date in 2023.

Information will be available on the East Lothian Council website consultation hub from 27th of July to the 9th of August 2020. Comments collected by e-mail to newbuildconsultation@eastlothian.gov.uk or telephone messages on 01620 820 113 will then be taken into account.
